'Mujahideen’ in India threaten attacks in Mumbai in response to Israeli Gaza ops

Indian media reported that Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria received a letter threatening a terror attack "to take revenge for Gaza."

Indian media reported that Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria received a letter threatening a terrorist attack “to take revenge for Gaza.”
The Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor of MEMRI (the Middle East Media Research Institute) uncovered the story and exclusively provided The Jerusalem Post with a report, quoting the letter signed simply as “Mujahideen” and targeting the police chief.
“We will take revenge for Gaza. In 1993, you [Maria] got a chance. This time you won’t. Stop us if you can,” read the letter published in the Daily News & Analysis (DNA) newspaper on July 27.
The reference to an event in 1993 is to a “series of bombings that took place that year in Mumbai in revenge for the demolition of the Babri mosque by extremist Hindus in December 1992,” said the report.
The letter was written in both English and Hindi, said Maria, who added, “We are verifying the authenticity of the letter. However, we are not taking the threat lightly. The Crime Branch and all the police stations have been alerted.”
In 2008, two Chabad Lubavitch emissaries to Mumbai, Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivka, were among six murdered at the Chabad House in a series of attacks by Islamist terrorists in the city. The attacks left 174 people dead, including nine terrorists, according to the BBC.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has called for “jihad organizations” to attack Israel, a second report by MEMRI’s terrorism desk showed.
An article in the Urdu-language daily Roznama Nai Baat, published on July 24, is titled, “Jihadi Organizations [Should] Turn Their Direction Toward Israel – People’s Party.”
It read, “The central leader of People’s Party and former federal minister [and] MNA [Member of National Assembly] Nawab Yousuf Talpur, MNA Mir Ejaz Hussain Jakhrani, and Senator Maulana Bakhsh Chandio have said that Israel has made hot the market of oppression and atrocity; therefore, jihadi organizations [should] turn the direction of their jihad toward Israel, where there is need for jihad.”
The newspaper, which is published in several cities in Pakistan and London, also quoted the PPP leaders as calling on “the world of Islam to use their influence” to stop the Israeli action in Gaza.
