As we celebrate Chanukah this year, Jewish men and women in Israel are battling a darkness that the Jewish people have not suffered since the Holocaust. The war has taken its physical, emotional and mental toll on an entire nation.

Israel has, and needs, many weapons to conquer this evil. Yet there is one weapon we Jews have that is very unique: LIGHT.

Every Friday night, we bring light into the world with our Shabbat Candles. Every Jewish Holiday, we again bring light into the world with our Yom Tov Candles. Chanukah is so much more: the entire holiday is a Festival of Lights.

Help us make sure that every soldier in the Israeli Defense Forces has our Jewish weapon - the Lights of Chanukah - to extinguish the darkness of Hamas, Hezbollah, and all those who wish to destroy us. Let our young Jewish men and women protecting Israel and Jews everywhere know that you support them and love them as you share with them the light of Chanukah that will surely overcome the evil darkness of our enemies.

This Chanukah, the Menorah lights of the Jewish soldiers in Gaza and those confronting Hezbollah, together with the light of our Menorahs in our homes, will surely join together into one brilliantly shining torch of goodness and kindness that will extinguish the hateful darkness that has enveloped the world. Please join us at Chabad’s Terror Victims Project (CTVP) and sponsor as many Chanukah Menorahs as you can. Please help us make sure that every soldier has their own Menorah as they courageously battle for the safety and security of Israel and the Jewish people everywhere.

May we soon merit to relive the miracle of Chanukah of 2163 years ago, when G-d waged battle for the Jewish people, and “the few overcame the many, the righteous overcame the wicked. When G-d effected a great deliverance and redemption to this very day.” Amen.
