In what is hoped will become an annual - if not more frequent - event, the Solomon Schecter School of Boston baseball team played the Ziontours cadet team last Thursday evening at Kraft Family Stadium in Jerusalem.
The event was a first for Israeli baseball - and a welcome opportunity for the American visitors to meet their contemporaries in a "non-touristy" context. The 40 or so Boston-area teenagers, many of them visiting Jerusalem for the first time, brought with them both good baseball and good cheer.
Jerusalem played well defensively, but couldn't muster any offense against their opponents' overpowering pitching. The final score was Boston 4, Ziontours 0.
