Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said during a visit to the Rafah border crossing in Egypt that the current ceasefire in Gaza is not enough and that a permanent ceasefire was needed.
"What is happening right now in Gaza is beyond devastating," one demonstrator said, carrying a poster that read "Ceasefire now!" in Dutch.
De Sutter said the European Union should immediately suspend its association agreement with Israel, which aims at better economic and political cooperation.
The arrests come amid a global spike in antisemitic incidents following Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel that has spurred an ongoing Israeli military response in Gaza.
The European Commission said the bloc's new migration pact would help prevent such situations by allowing swifter deportations of foreigners who are deemed a security threat.
