They urged all parties fighting in Gaza to protect civilians and called on Israel to "ceases its assault on Gaza and on the humanitarians trying to help."

The remaining terrorists in the northern Gaza Strip had gathered in Jabalya, prompting the military to encircle the area.

Following operations, troops arrested some 100 terrorists, including some who had tried to flee during the evacuation of civilians from the area. 

"We hope to be worthy of the sacrifice of Barak," said Petah Tikvah Mayor Rami Greenberg.
