Arbel made the request after receiving a letter from IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi detailing the challenges of holding the elections on their planned date.
Interior Minister Moshe Arbel insisted that it would be possible and reasonable to hold the elections at the end of January and refused to delay them again.
The elections were supposed to have taken place on October 31 but were pushed off following the outbreak of the Swords of Iron War on October 7.
