The student resolution resolved to cut financial ties with companies interacting with Israel and called on the Regents of the University of California to follow suit.
A university official said the groups have not yet agreed to adhere to university rules that would allow their reinstatement.

The campus SJP chapter said in a statement that the school “has failed to acknowledge the emotions and well-being of its Palestinian and Muslim students.”
The chapter has two business days to appeal the “interim” suspension. The university did not say how long the suspension would last if upheld.

The GW chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine has become the third to be suspended in US universities amid a rise in antisemitic incidents.
The State of Florida has claimed that these chapters’ activity has violated the law making it a felony to “knowingly provide material support... to a designated foreign terrorist organization.”
The announcement of the suspension comes after Jewish groups and state legislators signed a letter demanding universities withdraw their schools’ recognition and funding for SJP following October 7.
“Divesting from any company that supports Iran and ensuring that students are able to attend Jewish Day Schools safely is of utmost importance,” Florida Governor DeSantis said.
