Following the serious incident, the Education Ministry announced that classes at the school where the teacher works will begin this coming Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
Police arrested the student, who told officers he was possessed and heard voices that instructed him to attack the teacher.
The school closed shortly after the incident and will remain closed on Tuesday morning, the Israeli Teachers' Union announced.
One can no longer ignore the lack of respect which characterizes so many interactions in the Israeli public sphere recently and feeds the aforementioned violence.
The injury to the teacher was considered life-threatening, though she had shown some improvement in the hospital.
According to the spokesperson for the Teachers' Union, the staff at the Yosef Karo school is afraid to come to work.
