Hoylman told the Daily News “It’s a frightening thought that this is the new normal. We cannot accept that, as a city or a state.”The vandalism, according to Hoylman, was a result of Trump refusing to condemn the white supremacist ties of Steve Bannon, who Trump recently "rewarded" as his chief strategist.Pictures of the vandalism were tweeted by Hoylman and shortly after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted in response, “Millions of New Yorkers stand with you tonight against anti-Semitism. Hate has no place in NYC. #NotInOurCity.” NYPD's Hate Crime Unit is reportedly investigating the incident, however one police source stated that the swastikas may have been carved a long time ago.Swastika found in my apartment building this evening in Greenwich Village.
