Lebanon is a Middle Eastern nation located along the Mediterranean Sea. It directly borders Israel to the South and Syria to the North and East.
The nation has been in several conflicts with Israel over the past several decades and tensions along the border happen regularly, particularly with the large Lebanon-based terrorist organization Hezbollah, which wields significant political power in the country.
Italian sources said an investigation into the facts was under way. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani told Italian media that Hezbollah might be responsible for the attack.
According to Baram, the current ceasefire proposal would allow Hezbollah to regain its strength within a year or two.
