Barak to Abbas: 'We can't miss breakthrough opportunity'

Defense minister meets with PA president in New York in "friendly atmosphere," says time for both sides to take responsibility.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Wednesday that "we must not miss the opportunity to reach a breakthrough," during a meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in New York.
The two were set to meet later in the week with various senior US officials.

The meeting was held in a "friendly atmosphere," according to a statement released by Barak's office.
Barak told Abbas that "it is time for both sides to take responsibility so that the future of the next generations can be secured.
According to the statement released by Barak's office the two expressed their commitment to overcoming all the obstilces that lie in the way so that this historic opportunity will not be missed.
