The “Haverim for Health” association is asking the public to donate medicine and money for the evacuees of the south and for the completion of advanced medical equipment for the security forces.
The organization (Haverim Li’refuah) is the largest Israeli non-profit organization that collects unused medicines and distributes them to those in need.
It has mobilized in recent days to help citizens of the south who were evacuated from their homes in panic and need immediate medicines and medical equipment that they have difficulty obtaining and also to help obtain advanced medical equipment for the security forces.
However, in light of the many demands and requests for medicines and equipment as a result of the current situation, the association is turning to the public and asking for donations of money for the purchase of medicines and medical equipment only or a donation of medicines and auxiliary medical equipment.
It points out that there are currently many shortages of medicines and equipment – both of basic medicines and equipment for thousands of families who were forced to leave their homes and clinic and of more advanced equipment such as resuscitation equipment and portable ultrasound devices.
Immediate establishment of logistics center
Founder and CEO Baruch Lieberman said that “immediately with the outbreak of the war, we quickly established a logistics center whose purpose is to collect medicines and medical equipment, which these days serves both the evacuees of the south and the security forces. We do all this, of course, at the same time as our normal work, which is supplying medicines to tens of thousands of patients who need them every month.
Starting last Sunday and for four days, we distributed medical equipment to thousands of people with a monetary value of over a million shekels, but this is really only the tip of the iceberg – and the need is many times greater. We do our best to try and answer all requests, but we receive a lot of inquiries and unfortunately are currently having trouble meeting the need. We have set ourselves the goal of not abandoning a single sick or wounded person, but to be able to do this, to take care of the necessary medicines and equipment and the means to transport them to those who need them, we need the public's help immediately
