Two Israeli films have made the short list for the Best Live Action Short Oscar. The films are Summer Vacation by Tal Granit and Sharon Maymon, who recently directed The Farewell Party, which won an audience award at the Venice Film Festival; and Aya, directed by Oded Binnun and Mihal Brezis.Summer Vacation is about a man who wants to ditch his family during an outing, and stars Yiftach Klein, who has appeared in the television series Blue Natalie and Nadav Lapid’s film Policeman.Aya stars Sarah Adler, who appeared in Jean-Luc Godard’s Notre Musique, as a woman who impulsively pretends to be the chauffeur for a stranger she meets at the airport, a Danish professor played by Ulrich Thomsen. Thomsen starred as a villain in the James Bond movie The World is Not Enough and appears in the television series Banshee.The short list will be narrowed down to five nominees when the nominations are announced on January 15, and the Oscar ceremony will be held on February 22 in Los Angeles
