Hebrew University rises three spots in World University Rankings
The rankings place the Hebrew University among the top 15% of the 980 higher education institutions surveyed by QS.

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem has maintained its position as the top university in Israel, according to the new 2018 QS World University Rankings published on Thursday. The university went up three spots globally from 148 last year to 145 today.The rankings place the Hebrew University among the top 15% of the 980 higher education institutions surveyed by QS, and among the top 1% of the more than 26,000 universities in the world.Tel Aviv University was ranked in 205 place, going up seven spots compared with the previous ranking. The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology was ranked in 224 place, and Ben-Gurion University was ranked 352.First compiled in 2004, the QS World University Rankings rate the world’s best-performing institutions of higher education. To compile the 2018 rankings, QS analyzed over 75 million citations from more than 12 million papers, and 115,000 survey responses from employers and academics, and considered more than 4,000 universities before evaluating 980 of them.Prof. Menahem Ben-Sasson, president of the Hebrew University, praised the ranking saying it is a well-deserved recognition of his university’s international leadership in academics and research.“In recent years, the university’s administration has made intense efforts to attract the best students, teachers and researchers, and to equip them with the best tools to succeed,” he said. “In turn, our faculty and students have made worldclass contributions in diverse fields, ranging from the arts and humanities to the basic and applied sciences.”
