Shurat HaDin, the Israeli human rights organization, has launched an initiative to establish a legal war room, harnessing the legal talent of the Jewish world to assist Israel. Within days, since its announced launch, hundreds of attorneys from across the globe have joined the “Legal War Room,” which will coordinate legal efforts around the world, both in defense of Israel and to initiate legal actions against the Hamas terrorist organization and its supporters.
In order to support Israel’s war efforts, the Legal War Room will bring lawsuits against Hamas, its supporters and financiers across the globe, initiate legal actions against biased media platforms, develop ideas and targets, plan strategies, organize teams of volunteer attorneys, provide needed resources and utilize legal systems and courtrooms around the world to defeat the Hamas terrorists and safeguard the lives of Israeli soldiers. It will defend Israel against allegations of war crimes and will document the war crimes and crimes against humanity that Hamas perpetrates.
“The legal arena is of utmost importance,” says Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, founder and president of Shurat HaDin. “You can win on the battlefield and still lose the war because of it. Now is the time to work together. Some of the best legal minds in the world are Jewish, and it is only natural that since the Jewish state is facing great danger, they will want to contribute. We have extensive experience in waging lawfare against terrorists and their supporters across the globe but need many other lawyers to join the fight. It’s a fight for the existence of the State of Israel.”
