Police on Sunday arrested the father of a 10-year-old Kfar Kasim boy found dead in an olive grove in the village Thursday night, and suspect he may have played a role in his son’s brutal killing.Police will bring the father of Anas Sarsur before the Ramle Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning, where they will seek a remand extension until the next hearing in his case.Police said that in the meantime, Sarsur’s father is undergoing questioning with the Ramle branch of the YAMAR special investigative unit. After Sarsur went missing Thursday evening, his father contacted police, who launched a search together with village residents.Sarsur was found in the early hours of Friday morning, lying dead in an olive grove only steps away from his family home, with signs of violence across his entire body. When Sarsur went missing, his family initially told media they believed he had been hit by a tractor and left on the roadside. On Saturday, the boy’s uncle told Channel 10: “This was premeditated murder. It doesn’t matter if he was run over or murdered.”The report said residents of the village hoped for a speedy conclusion to the investigation to prevent a potential violent feud from erupting between families if it emerged that the murder suspects are from the same village.Police said Sunday that Sarsur’s family does not have any sort of record with police or social services.
