Blues and Whites skate to 7-7 draw at Metulla's Canada Centre

The aftermath of the High Holidays was apparent during Thursday’s Israel Recreational Hockey League game as the Central Blues and Northern Whites skated to a 7-7 draw on the Olympic ice at the Canada Centre in Metulla.New oleh Yechiel Luterman opened the scoring for the Blues with a quick shot that beat goalie Jason Swirsky up high. But neither team could muster a sustained attack as both sides seemed to be hurting from the month-long layoff and those oh-so-good desserts over the holidays.Northern’s Dave Berger was a standout on defense, stopping a couple of threeon- ones in the final period to protect the tie.The ice was slow, and players had to contend with some patchy fog that has plagued Israel’s only full-size ice rink for the past few months.Registration remains open for new players wanting to join the five-team league, which will host its fifth annual international tournament in February with teams expected from the USA, Canada and Europe.
