MK Avi Maoz is the leader of the Noam Party.
A controversial figure, Maoz has been criticized for alleged homophobic and racist remarks in the past. He is the only member of the Noam Party in Knesset, having made it in on a shared ticket with Otzma Yehudit and the Religious Zionist Party.
The Prime Minister tells the world in English that Israel is a bastion of rights for women and LGBTQ+, but within his own office, he is empowering radical forces seeking exactly the opposite.
The problem with Maoz being in charge is that he and his party advocate extremist views that are anti-pluralist and anti-secular, anti-feminist and anti-LGBT.
Noam MK Avi Maoz is set to head a 'Jewish Identity Authority' and will receive a two-year NIS 285 million budget.
The move is set to be approved after Maoz voted in favor of the national 2023-2024 budget last week.
Maoz quoted a speech made by NY Mayor Eric Adams, specifically citing Adams's pledge of support for yeshivas.

The age of consent in Israel is 16 for all genders but can be as low as 14 provided both parties consent and have a 3-year age gap or less.
"We will no longer agree to be silent about the blasphemy and dishonor of the State of Israel," wrote Maoz.
National Unity Party MK Ze'ev Elkin responded to this news, saying "are there any basic tenets of the existence of this country that [Maoz] won't try to destroy?"
The far-right MK alleged that changing blood donation forms to say parent one and parent two instead of mother and father was the reason for the blood donation crisis.
