Defense sources listed potential terms that Israel may demand to agree to a ceasefire with Hezbollah.

"We should be against Israeli attacks against UNIFIL. Our soldiers are there, many soldiers are there," said Borrell, speaking at an EU ministerial meeting in Luxembourg.

Having failed notably over decades to fulfill its peacekeeping mission, UNIFIL now has units scattered across a battlefield and has turned into a liability. 

The IDF stated that their raids are only directed at Hezbollah, and soldiers' activities are not directed at UNIFIL posts, forces, or infrastructure.

The leaders of France, Italy, and Spain on Friday condemned the firing on the position of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon explaining that such attacks were "unjustifiable."

An escalation of conflicts in the Middle East is a serious threat to global security, and everything must be done to avoid all-out war in Lebanon, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said.

"We all know the ending of this conflict. Hezbollah will be pushed back north of the Litani River,” Danon said.

“I want the Lebanese to think, believe, and understand that if there's no solution to the problem in southern Lebanon, we will conquer all of Lebanon," Professor Amatzia Baram said.

Katz told the UNSC that Israel had engaged “constructively” to secure a diplomatic resolution to the conflict but that Hezbollah had rejected those efforts.
