Smotrich resigned in order to become an MK again under the Norwegian Law, which enables a few ministers to resign their positions as MKs to fully focus on their roles as ministers.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called the decision "just," adding the sanctions "a severe act of blatant foreign interference in Israel's internal affairs."
Amsalem’s statement appeared to contradict numerous statements by Smotrich himself.
“I have a national responsibility for victory and security, and I am ready to pay the price," the Finance Minister wrote.
"This deal forfeits the IDF’s hard-won achievements in the war, involves withdrawing forces from Gaza, and halts the fighting in a manner that capitulates to Hamas," Itamar Ben-Gvir said.
Despite this, Smotrich also said that. since the Hamas terrorist attacks, he and his colleagues "have been doing everything" to achieve the "main goal of victory and the return of the hostages."
Ministers from the Religious Zionists Party and Otzma Yehudit, as well as Likud Ministers David Amsalem and Amichai Chikli, voted against the deal.
