Waltz’s first major foreign trip since taking office is more than a symbolic gesture; it is the operational rollout of the Trump administration’s Gaza plan.

During the meeting, Ambassador Waltz affirmed the US’s obligation to ensure the completion of the return of all hostages taken during Hamas’s brutal October 7 massacre. 

Mike Waltz crossed into Israel for his first visit as the US Ambassador to the UN, following his visit to Jordan.

Waltz will meet senior government and security officials, tour border areas, and receive regional briefings at the invitation of Israel’s UN envoy Danny Danon.

In a statement, Lapid noted that "we support President Trump and strengthen his hand in the efforts to implement the stages of the plan."

In addition to accusations of ceasefire noncompliance in Gaza, Mansour also alleged Israel has exercised policies "aimed at undermining the PA politically, financially, and militarily."

For now, training for the force’s deployment to Gaza has not yet begun, and efforts are still underway to secure the extensive funding required for ISF operations in the Strip.
