Peña reopened Paraguay’s embassy to Israel in an official ceremony in Jerusalem on Thursday.

Peña took office last year and shortly afterward announced the embassy's move back to Jerusalem.

Herzog told Peña that after the painful and agonizing year that Israel has gone through, Paraguay’s friendship is very meaningful.

Pena’s visit is centered on Paraguay’s moving its embassy to Jerusalem.

Peña addressed the October 7 massacre, stating, "We mourn together with the Jewish people for what happened on October 7. We are not just together now, but we will remain together always."

Amir Ohana thanked Paraguay for its defense of Israel in international forums and signed a cooperation agreement between the two parliaments.

Shortly after the inauguration of Peña in mid-August, Foreign Minister Eli Cohen announced that Paraguay would move its Israeli embassy back to Jerusalem within the year.
